Man killed after being struck by lightning, police says

TEMERLOH - The cause of death of a man whose body was found lying down in an alley behind a supermarket in Taman Sri Layang, Mentakab on Tuesday was confirmed to be due to a lightning strike.

Temerloh District Police Chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Azhar Mohd Yusoff said the cause of death of the man in his 30s was confirmed after an autopsy was done on Wednesday.

He said checks on the location also found traces of lightning strike markings on a tree about three metres from where the body was found.

"The case is classified as sudden death and did not involve any criminal elements as claimed by some parties.

"Therefore, the public is asked not to speculate on the case," he said.

Azhar said the body was found by the public at about 10.30pm on Tuesday before the discovery was informed to the police.

He said, acting on information, police went to the location to investigate and found the body of a man lying down with traces of injuries on his head.

"The body was sent to the Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah Hospitatl (HoSHAS) here for an autopsy," he said.
