The victim, Lee Kar Meng, 32, said the syndicate sprang him free after it discovered his case was publicised with pictures and videos at a press conference that was posted on Perak MCA's Facebook page in May recently.
"I was promised a casino job but once I got there, the syndicate forced me to join an online syndicate with a salary offer of USD600 which was only paid in the first month.
"I was forced to continue working without pay and against my will until my story caught the attention of my family and the Perak MCA Bureau. I was kicked out by the syndicate because of a press conference regarding my case besides victims from other countries two months ago.
"Armed with a few shirts, a mobile phone and an identity card, I went straight to a nearby police station where I was locked up to make a report before being detained for two months at Cambodian Immigration and finally successfully returned here yesterday," he said in a press conference today.
He said with deep regret from his bitter experience of deception by a syndicate, he no longer wanted to get caught up in such offers and advised the public not to fall for lucrative job offers of incredible origins. - Bernama
