PUCHONG – Two Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) council members reveal that they have no information that Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali is the party’s candidate for Deputy Prime Minister (DPM).

The matter was revealed by Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Special Tasks) Datuk Dr Abdul Latiff Ahmad and Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Abdullah.

“I do not know, (if it was discussed in the council meeting) we don’t know.

“If we know, we’ll tell you,” Abdul Latiff said at a press conference in conjunction with the 55th Asean Day celebration at the National Disaster Management Agency’s (Nadma) Malaysian Special Search and Rescue Team (Smart) Headquarters today.

His answer was echoed by Saifuddin when asked if it was true that Azmin was the only candidate for the DPM position.

“My answer is the same (as Latiff) because we sat next to each other in the Cabinet” he claimed.

It was reported that Bersatu had claimed the DPM seat from Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob and had nominated International Trade and Industry Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali for the position.

The report claimed that Azmin was the only candidate that was nominated by Bersatu President Muhyiddin Yassin to fill up the position.
