His Royal Highness said RTM had succeeded in improving its services, not only the quality of its radio broadcasts, but also the clear reception of digital television signals through the construction of new transmitters.
"I hope the federal government through the Ministry of Communications and Multimedia (K-KOMM) will speed up the allocations to upgrade the communication infrastructure in Perlis through the Perlis Economic Development Corporation (PKENPs)," he said when launching the Tuanku Syed Putra Broadcasting Complex here today.
Raja Perempuan of Perlis Tuanku Tengku Fauziah Tengku Abdul Rashid, Raja Muda of Perlis Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail and Raja Puan Muda of Perlis Tuanku Hajjah Lailatul Shahreen Akashah Khalil also attended the event.
Also present were Communications and Multimedia Minister Tan Sri Annuar Musa, Federal Territories Minister Datuk Seri Dr Shahidan Kassim, Deputy Communications and Multimedia Minister Datuk Zahidi Zainul Abidin, K-KOMM secretary-general Datuk Seri Mohammad Mentek and Perlis Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Azlan Man.
Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin said the allocation was very important for Perlis to create space for economic improvement in the agriculture, health, education, manufacturing, retail and service sectors.
"I am proud that RTM always reflects this state as a positive model of harmony," said His Royal Highness.
As the northernmost state in Peninsular Malaysia, a radio broadcast by Perlis FM was also received by residents of neighbouring countries who live near the state border.
"This radio station also plays a role as an ambassador in introducing local customs, including the Malay Muslim civilisation," he added. - BERNAMA
