KAJANG - The grounds outside Kajang Prison has been calm and quiet since former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak arrived at 6.05pm to start his prison sentence today.

No Najib supporters were seen here, unlike the massive crowd that gathered at the Palace of Justice in Putrajaya earlier.

Members of the media have been barred from entering the Kajang Prison complex, while the police had set up barb wires in the surrounding area.

There was no reason given on why they had set up the barb wires.

The Star quoted Kajang OCPD Assistant Commissioner Mohd Zaid Hassan saying that the cops were keeping a close eye on the current situation at the prison.

A five-man Federal Court bench earlier today upheld his conviction and sentence for the misappropriation of RM42 million in SRC International funds.

Najib was convicted, sentenced to 12 years in jail and fined RM210 million by the Kuala Lumpur High Court on July 28, 2020.
