PUTRAJAYA - Surah Al-Sajdah recited through this year’s Malaysia #QuranHour 2022 indicates the independence from snobbery and humbleness in conjunction with Independence Day tomorrow.

Qari for the surah's reading session Ahmad Tarmizi Abdul Rahman said the surah carried a powerful and essential message to dismiss the vanity and improve the humbleness of a Muslim to Allah.

"That is why this surah is always emphasised especially during independence day, Malaysia #QuranHours 2022 invited the whole community – wherever we are in the nation, we need to concede ourselves to Allah.

"Thus, in conjunction with 65 year of Malaysia's independence, the Malaysia #QuranHours 2022 would like to invite people to submit to Allah and avoid arrogance," he said.

Another qari Ahmad Tirmizi Ali also said Surah Al-Sajdah carried the message to avoid arrogance and for Muslims to devote themselves to God.

"Its a big message for Independence Day as we should avoid from arrogances as it could destroy everything like the past generations, like the Firaun for example.

"I hope from the message in Surah Al-Sajdah, we as Muslims will devote ourselves to Allah and become Malaysian with independent souls," he said.

Ahmad Tirmizi also said he hoped the programme would continue to be held as it could motivate the Muslim and would constantly be reminded of the Quran.

The Malaysia #QuranHour 2022 also invited a well-known celebrity to honour the pledge reading this afternoon, which is Datuk Adi Putra.

As a celebrity, he said it was an honour for him to be invited to read the oath at the Malaysia #QuranHour 2022 today as it conveyed benefits to the Muslim community.

"If possible, we could organise this kind of programme once a month, so we could inform the people out there that this program exists not only physically but also by heart, especially when it based on the Quran

"What I can say for me is that I could share it with the community.

“Thus, with this programme if we don’t learn something from it, we will lose as a Muslim since the Quran is like a pillar for Muslims," he said.
