SHAH ALAM - The Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) expressed their disappointment upon the damage to the landscapes at Dataran Merdeka following the National Day celebration this morning.

In a video shared on the DBKL’s Facebook account, the new landscapes in the area were stepped on, which eventually damaged the view and the plants.

“We were so excited to see Malaysians gathered at the roads near Dataran Merdeka this morning to celebrate Independence Day together.

“But at the same time, there some of us were ignorant about the surroundings and the beauty of the area.

“Without feeling any guilt, (they) damaged the beautiful landscapes. The spirit is good, but this is not the way,” the post read.

Through the comments section, many responses were garnered from the public and some of them said the landscapes should not be planted there, which made the venue unsuitable for gathering.

There were also members of the public who who expressed their disappointment upon seeing the mentality of the people there for being uncaring and irresponsible about the surroundings.

Some of them said that the National Day celebration this time received an unexpectedly huge crowd from Malaysians, which might explain why they did not notice the plants there.
