SHAH ALAM – Police refute claims that a robbery took place in Genting Highland after a video went viral on a social media platform recently.

Bentong police chief Superintendent Zaiham Mohd Kahar said his team did not receive any report from any individual on the incident.

“Police have conducted an investigation and confirmed that there was no robbery incident as claimed in a video or audio that were circulated on social media or WhatsApp application,” he said in a statement.

In the video posted on a social media platform, it claimed that there was a robbery at Genting Highland.

Among the statements heard in the video were ‘cannot enter the casino, the people inside the casino cannot leave as the door is locked. We don’t know what happened, maybe there was a robbery or a fire.’

Zaiham urged every party not to make any speculations or spread unverified rumours that could disrupt peace.

Meanwhile, Genting Resort World in a brief statement said on Aug 30, the fire shutters at the SkyCasino entrance were closed due to a false fire alarm at 1.30pm.

The matter was resolved within 15 minutes.
