SHAH ALAM - Sarawak PKR says the charges against Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor, the wife of former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak should be a starting point to regain the justice lost for the people of Sarawak.

Sarawak Youth Chief Chiew Choon Man said the court’s decision today shows the judiciary body remains independent.

“However, it also proves that Sarawakians were betrayed by political leaders or their allies from Barisan Nasional,” he said.

He said many schools in Sarawak especially in the rural area were in dilapidated condition, lacking equipment and basic facilities.

According to the education ministry, there were 135 schools in Sarawak currently in poor condition and out of that Public Works department has categorised 107 of them as unsafe schools, he added.

Due to that, he said political leaders and their allies should not pawn the fate of the people and their future generation for selfish reasons.

“Our children should not be in unsafe and uncomfortable conditions,” he said.

He also said that the justice that was upheld today was due to the people’s unrelenting support including Sarawakians for PKR.

Rosmah was given 10 years’ imprisonment and a record fine of RM970 million after being convicted of all charges in her corruption trial involving a RM1.25 billion solar hybrid energy project for 369 Sarawak schools.
