KUALA LUMPUR – The New Straits Times' (NST) award-winning graphic artist Ahmad Suhairy Suib has died earlier today due to a heart attack.

According to the NST news report, the 46-year-old who hailed from Perak had collapsed at the office car park, before he was rushed to the Kuala Lumpur Hospital in an ambulance.

It was also reported that Ahmad Suhairy or better known as Ayie was with his son at the time of the incident.

Ahmad Suhairy is survived by his wife and five children.

His remains will be taken to Beranang, Selangor for funeral prayers and burial.

Ahmad Suhairy recently won a silver award for best front page design and a bronze award for best infographics on Long Covid and Post Covid-19 Syndrome in June.

He also won the consolation prize in the Best Front Page Category at the Malaysian Press Institute (MPI)-Petronas Malaysian Journalism Awards for three front pages - 'Warning Against Child Abuse', 'Priorities Redefined' and 'Why Exempt Big-Ticket Items?', in 2019.
