Datuk remanded over false claims totalling RM100 million

SHAH ALAM - A managing director of a company with a "Datuk" title has been remanded for three days for investigation over suspicion of submitting false claims worth RM7 million for a development project in Terengganu involving a total of RM100 million.

The remand application against the 54-year old man was made at the Putrajaya magistrate's court on Tuesday.

Magistrate Irza Zulaikha Rohanuddin issued a three-day remand order against the suspect which will expire on Thursday.

According to a source, the suspect was arrested at his office, here, on Monday.

"The suspect had allegedly submitted the claims from 2020 to May this year," the source said.

Meanwhile Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) investigations senior director Datuk Seri Hishamuddin Hashim confirmed the arrest of the suspect.

He said the case is being investigated under Section 18 of the MACC Act 2009.
