SHAH ALAM - The rakyat are ready to vote this year but this comes with a condition - good weather and no floods.

They said it will not be a problem if the general elections are held immediately but the authorities must take into account the forecast by the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) over heavy rain which may cause flash floods.

"Politics in the country is unstable and divided. As voters, we have the right to choose a party that is able to bring prosperity to the country.

"I will be voting in Shah Alam and if the weather is good with no flood, what is wrong if GE15 is held this year? It doesn't matter whether it's early or late, we still have to go out to vote," he said.

Technician Ahlan Muhajer, 48 said it would be best to hold GE15 immediately before the monsoon starts.

"The general election should be held to elect a leader and a stable government but there is a flood warning issued by MetMalaysia," he said, adding that it would be better to hold elections when the weather was more reassuring.

"I live and work in Shah Alam but I will return to Kedah to vote," said Afifi whose house was affected by the worst December floods.

"If there is a flood again, how will people go back to their village to vote? If possible, elections should be held in 2023," he added.
