SHAH ALAM - Umno needs to eliminate their old ways and the warlord culture within the party, says former Puteri Umno member.

Zarra Z. Rawi, who is also the daughter of former Selayang Umno chief Datuk Ahmad Bhari Abd Rahman said Umno needed to be more open and stop exclusivity within the group.

“What went wrong is their culture, their old ways, their warlord culture, making exclusivity within the group and those kinds of things.

“They need to be more open,” she told Sinar Daily during the Politically Frank segment

However, she believed that Umno could still survive in the political arena but with the help from other parties to form a government.

This, Zarra said, includes the parties in Sabah and Sarawak.

“If you want my opinion about their analysis, (I think) they could survive but provided they need alliances from other parties and Sabah and Sarawak as fixed deposits,” she said.

Commenting on the party’s performance, she said nothing much has changed except they did better when they were not in power compared to when they governed the country.

“When they are not in power, they do quite well but when they are in power, they have to create alliances with other parties to be the government but the way they govern the country is the same," she said.

However, she further added that the way Umno governed the country was what made them a good government.

Asked about her inclination of political parties apart from Umno, she said she currently has no interest in any parties but still ‘biased’ towards Umno.

“I am still loyal to the party.

“Not to the people, not to the position, just the party. I am still an Umno member,” she added.
