KOTA BHARU - A school in Kelantan has issued a letter of reminder to parents on the risk of kidnapping of students.

The letter was issued on Sunday following recent kidnapping incidents of school students.

"In this regard, the school hopes that parents or guardians could take appropriate action.

"Sending and picking up children on time, reminding them to cooperate with the school to prevent such incidents from happening,” the statement said.

Meanwhile, a father who declined to be identified said he was shocked by the statement issued by the school.

He said the situation caused fear among parents and their children.

As the letter went viral, he said there were also a commotion and debate in the parents’ WhatsApp group.

"So far, we have not heard of any cases involving child abduction other than that of a cosmetics entrepreneur in Tumpat.

"To me, this reminder is necessary, but it should have been conveyed carefully especially to parents in order to give a clear explanation to the children.

"When the explanation is not clear, I am concerned that there would be a problem that could affect the children's spirit to go to school,” he said.

Sinar Harian on Thursday reported that the Kelantan police were investigating two cases involving the alleged abduction of two students at a school in Gua Musang on Monday and Tuesday.
