SHAH ALAM - The United Nations (UN), Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and local non-governmental organisations (NGO) have been working together to provide assistance and support for over 12 million refugees in Syria.

Hayir Kapilari public relations coodinator Musap Muhamed Yusuf said these agencies have signed an agreement to help the refugees in the country.

However, he said the crisis was much bigger than their efforts.

“As for OIC and UN agencies, they are trying to help as much as they can. Other countries such as Kuwait and many others have also tried to help through the NGOs," he said.

Musap said this during an exclusive interview with Sinar Daily on its Fireside Chat programme entited "Syria: Still Under Fire".

In order to have good influence on the agencies, political settlement was needed, he added.

Commenting on the same issue, ATAA Relief public relations coordinator Mohammad Abdulatiff said a long-term solution was needed to help the refugees.

He said his organisation was trying to respond to the urgent needs of the people such as food, health, education as well as implementing sustainable projects.
