Budget 2023: 219 MPs in attendance, three seats empty

KUALA LUMPUR - 219 MPs attended the tabling of the 2023 Budget which takes place in Dewan Rakyat today.

The total did not include an MP who was not allowed to attend and two who had died.

The empty seats were Gerik where its Minister Datuk Hasbullah Osman was reported to have died in Raub, Pahang in November 2020 and Datuk Liew Vui Keong (Batu Sapi) who passed away the same year in October.

The Pekan seat held by Datuk Seri Najib Razak was vacant as the former prime minister was undergoing his prison sentence after he was convicted of the misappropriation of RM42 million in SRC International Sdn Bhd (SRC) funds.

Finance Minister Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz, clad in a blue Baju Melayu complete with a sampin tabled the Budget 2023 and said that it had went through 200 discussions, 250 memorandums and 12,000 feedbacks from the public.
