KUALA LUMPUR - The 2023 Budget will need to be tabled again of the dissolution of Parliament takes place before it is approved by the Dewan Rakyat.

Finance Minister Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz said the situation will be similar to what happened back in 1999 where the bill was not approved to give way for the general elections.

“This question should be asked to the Prime Minister but referring to what happened (if Parliament dissolves before the budget is approved), the procedure is the same as in 1999.

"I have to explain this so that everyone is clear about the process but in any case the answer should be submitted to the Prime Minister," he said this during a press conference after tabling the budget today in Parliament.

He said this when asked if the 2023 Budget will be retailed again if Parliament is dissolved in the near future.

Dissolution of Parliament and the 15th General Election has been a hot topic for the past few months with Umno adamant for it to happen immediately.

Currently, the government led by the Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob and supported by the Perikatan Nasional.
