Perlis, Melaka Umno machinery ready to face GE15

KUALA LUMPUR - The Melaka and Perlis Umno election machinery are now on standby and just waiting for the announcement on the dissolution of Parliament to pave the way for the 15th General Election (GE15).

Melaka Umno Liaison Committee chairman Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh and Perlis Umno liaison secretary Azizan Sulaiman, respectively, said the party machinery was prepared to be mobilised at any time.

Ab Rauf said the Melaka Umno machinery is now 90 per cent ready and only waiting for the time to reactivate it after Barisan Nasional's (BN) big victory in the November state elections last year.

"The only thing that will be crucial later is the announcement of the names of the candidates, which will be decided by the leadership soon," he told reporters after opening the Masjid Tanah divisional level Umno Wanita, Youth and Puteri wings’ convention today.

Meanwhile, Azizan, when contacted, said the Perlis Umno machinery is at its best and all levels of Women, Youth and Puteri as well as the state Umno movement are 100 per cent ready.

The names of the candidates who will contest are now being finalised and will be vetted by Perlis BN chairman before handing over to the party leadership. - BERNAMA
