KOTA KINABALU - Sabah Barisan Nasional (BN) chairman Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin reveals that political negotiations with Gerakan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) for the 15th General Election (GE15) are expected to be finalised soon.

"The Sabah BN has already identified potential candidates to contest and will finalize the list of candidates to the Central BN once the negotiations with the GRS are complete.

"On the Blue Wave tour series and the launch of the BN machinery that we have carried out, the support at the grassroots level is quite convincing, all preparations of the Sabah BN to maintain the victory first and will be able to give as many seats as possible to help the BN capture Putrajaya," he said in a statement following the dissolution of Parliament today.

Bung Mokhtar, who is also Sabah Umno Leader, described the decision to dissolve Parliament as apt given the need for the country to get a new mandate from the people to elect a new government capable of bringing political stability to the country.

He said, this is part of the democratic process that needs to be respected.

"This dissolution will also stop the accusations from some parties that the government was elected today as a 'back door government' and a hole in the roof government'.

"Never before in history has there been a three-time change of government and Prime Minister in the same term, which shows that the country's political situation is unstable to the point of affecting the country's economic growth.

"In this GE15, the people need to be wise in choosing a government to lead the country, the concept of thinking before voting is important to create political stability besides not repeating the episode in GE14 in which they chosed a party that not only failed to implement the promised manifesto but also failed to bring political and economic stability to the country," he remarked.

Bung Mokhtar added, voters need to make the best decision to elect a quality leader to restore political stability thus re-stimulating the country's economy.

"Roughly speaking, the country's economy has not yet recovered since Malaysia is facing various challenges including the change of government and the Covid-19 pandemic causing the situation to be uncertain," he said.
