PUTRAJAYA- Former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad has said he will defend his Langkawi Parliamentary seat in the 15th general elections (GE15).

He said this in a press conference today.

The Pejuang Chairman further said his Gerakan Tanah Air (GTA) coalition will field 120 candidates nationwide, including in Sabah.

"We will also place youth and women candidates as a strategy however, the total number of seats has not been decided," he said.

He said his candidacy was not as a potential prime minister candidate but only as the people's representative.

He said the meeting agreed that GTA would use Pejuang's name, logo and flag until his coalition was approved by the Registrar of Societies (ROS) as a political party.

"Everyone agreed to contest using Pejuang's name except in Kelantan," he said.

Mahathir said he would decide the candidates contesting in Kelantan and would use the Parti Bumiputera Perkasa Malaysia (Putra) name and logo.
