PUTRAJAYA - Khairy Jamaluddin Abu Bakar said he will continue to support the Generational End Game (GEG) and the Control of Tobacco Product and Smoking Bill 2022 even if he is no longer an MP after the 15th General Election (GE15).

The caretaker Health Minister said he did his best until the bill was tabled for the second reading in the Dewan Rakyat.

"I will continue to support GEG to be brought to Parliament in whatever capacity I hold in the near future," he said when met after officiating the Putrajaya Anti-Obese City seminar and the launch of the weight loss programme module, here, today.

He said the new government and Health Ministry that will be formed after the election should not bow down to tobacco companies.

"They had influenced the current MPs and the media as well as others to create fear of this bill to the people," he said.

Khairy said all parties needed to accept the fact that the new Parliament that will be formed will comprise new members.

"We can't think that the new Parliament will automatically agree with what the old Parliament had decided on through the Special Select Committee," he said.

The Control of Tobacco Product and Smoking Bill 2022 has been scheduled for the third reading in the Dewan Rakyat next week.
