SHAH ALAM - DAP's Kota Kemuning state assemblyman Ganabatirau Veraman says it's time to stop demonising DAP as it is multi-racial party.

He told Sinar Daily's Politically Frank that: “We were called communist, a Chinese party, anti-Malays, anti-monarch, anti-Islam and so on.

“But we have all races among our elected representatives so if you want to see true Malaysia, you can see it in DAP,” he said.

He also said that their conventions and party songs were in Malay, unlike MCA's Chinese songs.

“Our secretary-general Anthony Loke repeatedly endorses upholding of Constitution and to uphold the position of our monarch, the Malays and Bahasa Melayu,”

To him, all races in Malaysia should be given the space to voice out their concerns so that people could understand the core values of each race and religion in this country.

He also said that parties like BN and Pas were only demonising DAP because they had the right to the race and religion of this country.

He added DAP is a party that champions integrity, anti-corruption, a better economy and an education system for all Malaysians.

“So definitely those who don't like it are corrupt and extremist,” he said.

Also being a part of the Pakatan Harapan (PKR) alliance, he said the word “harapan” itself is filled with hope for the people.

The race card

He said BN and Pas often use the race and religion card to woo people but PKR was different as it did not use the same tactic, a move to unite Malaysia.

He supports Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim as the country's 10th prime minister.

“Anwar can be the only person today who can unite Malaysians at large,” he said, adding that Anwar could also free Malaysia of corruption.
