PH says no to elections in 3 states

Its chairman Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said the decision not to dissolve Penang, Selangor, Negeri Sembilan states was made after today's presidential council meeting.
"Initially, Amanah and PKR was at the same position, however, DAP took their time to come up with a decision.
"But in the end, DAP Secretary-General Anthony Loke decided that we (PH) and three states (under PH administration) have made a decision to postpone the state election so that we can focus on floods," he told reporters at the PKR headquarters today.
Also present at the press conference were DAP Secretary-General Anthony Loke and Amanah President Mohamad Sabu.
He also urged the current government machinery to focus on preparations to deal with floods and not just on elections.
"PH is a strong party and we give ample room for open discussions. First, we reject the government's move to force an election during floods.
"Next, we want a legitimate government machinery that has a mandate, not a caretaker government, to focus on elections, not just on their position, and to be fully prepared ease burden of flood victims," said Anwar.
