PUTRAJAYA - More discussions are needed before a cooperation with Pejuang is formed, Perikatan Nasional secretary-general Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin said today.

This comes after party’s chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin previously said that they are ready to cooperate with Pejuang if both sides are serious over the matter.

He said it is not about stating two parties want to cooperate as the views of the coalition should also be taken into consideration.

“Pejuang has the right to cooperate with anyone.

“As for us in Bersatu, when the president Tan Sri Muhyiddin says he is ready, he needs to bring this matter to the supreme council meeting, then we need to discuss this matter with the coalition party.

“It's not like we can simply say yes to this matter,” he said in a press conference after the launching of a new security document in conjunction with the 74th National Registration Day, today.

The launch was held at Dewan Balora Perdana, National Registration Department, here, today.

On Oct 13, Muhyiddin who is also the Bersatu president said that the party is ready to consider cooperation with Pejuang in the 15th general election (GE15), as reported by Bernama.

He said there is a possibility for cooperation between the two parties if Pejuang is serious on the matter, however Pejuang has not contacted him to discuss it thus far.

"So far, no one has contacted me regarding the matter. Furthermore, we are already in the preparation phase. We had discussed the matter before, but after that, nothing happened. I'm not sure whether the proposal is serious or not.

"If there are parties that are serious [about political cooperation], we are willing to consider it. That is not my call, because the matter needs to be brought to the Bersatu supreme council first to decide whether [the cooperation] is necessary or not.

"Overall, where PN is concerned, we are ready [for the GE15]," he said.
