SHAH ALAM - Amanah communications director Khalid Samad says young leaders need to be given a leading role to develop the nation.

The three-term former Shah Alam MP said his party is preparing second-liners.

“There are a lot of them who are capable and have already served as local councillors and political secretaries,” he told Sinar Daily’s Politically Frank.

However, he is leaving up to his party leadershil to decide if he should contest at the Shah Alam seat, adding that even if he was not named as a candidate, he still had a role to play and contribute to the party.

Amanah’s biggest asset was their identity to be principle-centric rather than personality-centric and said most Malaysians want a government that embodies that.

“Amanah, from its very inception, emphasised the values of integrity, inclusivity, justice and working together amongst the Malaysians as a whole,” he said.

In governance, he said the most important thing was integrity.

“When you give people positions, authority and power, integrity is the most important characteristic that a person must have,” he said.
