SHAH ALAM - Former MP Fahmi Fadzil hopes to be given another opportunity to defend his Lembah Pantai Parliamentary seat, an area he has grown to love and understand.

Fahmi said Lembah Pantai has potential.

During Sinar Daily's Politically Frank interview, he toured Bazaria Pantai, an area just two minutes away from Bangsar South, a booming economic site with many high-tech companies and services.

“There's a lot of potential and I hope more people in Lembah Pantai can participate in this newer economy,” he said.

Lembah Pantai being such a thriving area, he said it felt as if the area was proper to be renamed as Silicon Kerinchi.

Fahmi, in his promise during 14th General Election (GE14), was to restore Kampung Kerinchi to its initial name which was changed to Bangsar South by property developers following the modern development of the land.

However, the renaming garnered disapproval from the locals as the new modernised name could erode the identity and culture of Kampung Kerinchi.

Fahmi fulfilled that promise on January 2019 when he reverted the Bangsar South to Kampung Kerinchi to bring back the pride and identity of the locals.

“Kampung Kerinchi is rich in history.
