KOTA KINABALU - Sabah Barisan Nasional (BN) will include the position of Deputy Prime Minister (DPM) from Sabah in the manifesto as discussed by Umno President Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi recently.

Its Chairman Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin said the manifesto would be included and implemented if BN wins the majority in the 15th General Election (GE15).

"The DPM position will be included in Sabah BN's manifesto and Sabah BN will prepare a potential DPM that is authoritative and more focused on the task as DPM.

"The matters regarding the appointment for it would be simplified," he said when contacted on Thursday.

He said such when he was asked regarding Zahid's decision to include the DPM position from Sabah in the Sabah BN manifesto at the BN Gelombang programme in Kimanis, Papar, on Sunday.

Bung Moktar said the DPM position quota was to ensure Sabah would be given powers in deciding the matters pertaining to the people of Sabah.

"There's no use for it if the DPM had no role or powers in ensuring the development of Sabah," he said.

He previously admitted that the DPM position from Sabah had been suggested by Pakatan Harapan (PH) however, they failed to fulfil it.

The Sabah DAP Policy Bureau Chief Chan Foong Hin in his statement on Wednesday stated the DPM role from Sabah and Sarawak had been discussed by PH before BN announced it recently.

Zahid who was the BN Chairman suggested the role not only to represent the leaders from Sabah but from Sarawak and West Malaysia as well.
