SEMPORNA – The Bugaya State Legislative Assembly will witness a seven-cornered fight in the 15th General Election (GE15) after six parties and independent candidates are confirmed to be contesting in the Bugaya by-election.

Election Commission (EC) returning officer Juraimin Jadil announced the list of candidates at 11am, today.

Among the candidates who will be contesting were Gerakan Tanah Air's (GTA) Mohd Hassan Abu Bakar, Warisan's Jamil Hamzah, PBM's Nazmawati Walli, Zulfadzli Shi Ahmad (independent), Karil Pg Kuraini (PPRS), Abd Aziz Mohd Ibno (BN) and Arastam Pandorog (PH).

Meanwhile, the Semporna Parliament was expected to see a four-cornered fight in which its incumbent who is also Warisan president Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal will not be giving up his seat without a fight.

He will be facing Arastam Pandorog from PH, Nixon Abdul Habi (GRS) and Ab Razik @ Ab Rajak Ab Hamid (GTA – Pejuang).

The clash between candidates involving two elections which were GE15 and the Bugaya state by-election was expected to bring fierce competition this time around.
