BAYAN LEPAS - Pakatan Harapan (PH) chairman Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim blames the seventh former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad following the coalition’s failure to govern the country after their victory in the 14th General Election (GE14).

Anwar, who is also the president of Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) said that Mahathir did not implement any changes during the PH's 22-month rule which led the people to become dissatisfied with the promises made.

"Who was the leader when PH first ruled? "Who was the Prime Minister if not Tun Mahathir? The country cannot rise without good administration and governance.

"People are in trouble, and commodity prices are rising. After that, he was replaced with Muhyiddin, which made things worse.

“People don't even have enough food to eat. In fact, we held the implementation of the Movement Control Order (MCO) for the longest time during his tenure.

“Then, in addition to that, replacing him with Ismail Sabri, who only increased the number of ministers.

"These people actually failed when the country went through the MCO. However, when they can't answer (why they failed), they bring up other issues, accusing Anwar, accusing DAP, PH," he said when he attended ‘Ramah Mesra Bersama Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’ Programme’ in Bukit Belah Village Community Management Council (MPKK) Hall, Sungai Batu here on Sunday.

“Good governance, rather than plundering money, will help the country's economy recover.

"The election is not really about changing parties, but rather about saving Malaysia and our children.

“Chinese, Indian, Kadazan, Malay, and other ethnicities are all "part of our family" he said.

In the previous general election, PH consisted of Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu), Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR), DAP and Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah) won 113 seats followed by BN with 79 seats.

However, in February 2020, PH no longer had the majority to form the central government following the decision of Bersatu and 11 PKR members of Parliament to withdraw from the coalition.
