Khairy in the wrong party to be PM, Muhyiddin says

PAGOH - Khairy Jamaluddin is in the wrong party to become Prime Minister, says Perikatan Nasional (PN) chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.

However, he said it was not wrong for the Health Minister to aspire to be the country’s leader and acknowledged that the former MP was a good figure to be Prime Minister in the future.

"I don't think this is an empty talk, he's a good figure.

"He's in my cabinet, he's one of the people I trust and he was able to manage Covid-19 and others well," he said.

He said this when met at the Sembang Santai with the Community of Kampung Panjang Sari, Kampung Sri Menanti and Kampung Sri Makmur, Pagoh.

Yesterday, Khairy in his speech during a campaign in Sungai Buloh said it was the right time to declare his intention to be the leader of the government.

Muhyiddin said Khairy had a good future and it was not wrong for any leader including himself to aspire to be a prime minister.

"When it comes time to become the prime minister, maybe Khairy should take over Umno and become Umno President and have to win many seats to form the government.

"For now, we can only talk," he said.

In another update, Muhyiddin said he had previously declared his assets and it should not be prompted because it was a responsibility of the politicians.
