SHAH ALAM - The Democratic Action Party (DAP) Social Media Bureau chairman Syahredzan Johan said he is confident in winning Bangi parliamentary seat in the 15th General Election (GE15) despite having to face eight other candidates which he described as ‘bukan calang-calang’ (not ordinary).

The eight-cornered fight, he said, will see BN-MCA Datuk Hoh Hee Lee from Barisan-MCA who is a senior in the legal profession and PN-Pas Muhammad Nazrul Md Nazir who is an old friend of his.

“All of the candidates are quite strong, it will be a tough fight for us.

“For example, Datuk Hoh, who is the BN candidate as well as a senior in the legal profession and also Nazrul, a PN candidate who I have known for a number of years ago.

“They are ‘bukan calang-calang orang’, but we are confident that we are able to gain the support of the people as we have been the choice of the voters for the past three elections,” he told Sinar Daily in Politically Frank's latest episode.

Asked what his offers are for the people in Bangi, he said DAP will be giving the same service since the past three elections, but only better.

“Before this, when Dr Ong (Ong Kian Ming) was the Member of Parliament (MP), we know of his stellar record both in Parliament as well as on the ground, he was a very active example during the pandemic but of course, he was supported by three PH (Pakatan Harapan) state assemblymen in Balakong, Kajang and Sg Ramal here,” he said.

He also said that Ong received support from local councillors to solve the problem in the area by bringing the issues to Kajang Municipal Council and other relevant authorities.

As a fresh face, Syahredzan aims to bring new sentiments if he is given the chance to become the area’s new MP.

“It is a team of people who are going for the same sort of service but of course, we will improve on whatever has been offered before.

“I'm a new face, I’m bringing new enthusiasm and new ideas so if given a chance, I would ensure that Bangi people will get better representation,” he added.
