JOHOR BAHRU – A man was arrested for his alleged involvement in a treason case of burning a tent used as a political party's operations room in Batu Pahat, on Saturday.

Johor Police Contingent Headquarters 15th General Election (GE15) Media Spokesman Superintendent Ibrahim Mat Som said the 28-year-old local man was arrested after the police received a report about the incident at 10.37pm on Saturday.

The Batu Pahat District Police Headquarters received a police report regarding a treacherous incident of a tent being light on fire at the MIC operations room in Taman Mutiara, Batu Pahat.

“The quick action of the police managed to arrest the suspect in the area and the suspect was suspected to be drunk when he was arrested," he said in a media statement here on Sunday.

He said the remand application against him would be made today and the case would be investigated according to Section 436 of the Penal Code.

At the same time, he said the police advised the public to behave rationally and not do any illegal acts
