KUALA LUMPUR – “Is Perikatan Nasional (PN) election director Datuk Seri Azmin Ali ready to name other leaders in their coalition as the prime minister if chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin lost in Pagoh despite winning the 15th General Election?”

This was the question asked by Barisan Nasional (BN) election communication chief Datuk Seri Ahmad Shabery Cheek when commenting on Azmin’s confidence that the coalition would win two-thirds in the GE15.

Shabery asked if Azmin was ready to name Pas President Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang or Bersatu deputy president Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu as the prime minister when Muhyiddin lost.

“I think PN will face a major problem if they win two-thirds but if their PN President loses the seat in Pagoh.

“This is because we have made a lot of cross-checking not only with BN supporters but also other voters.

“Also previously, Muhyiddin was contested under Pakatan Harapan (PH) ticket and he did receive a lot of support from the Chinese supporters there in Pagoh,” he said.

However, it was reminded again that most Chinese voters were in PH and were not ready to cast their vote for PN as Pas is currently one of the parties under the coalition.

Hence, if this happened, Shabery asserted the PN would lose their head and outright ask if Azmin was ready to have Hadi or Faizal as the Prime Minister.

“That’s why Muhyiddin, in a previous statement recently, was scared when Pas man talked about heaven hell in terms of GE until he had to apologise.

“It means his worries about Pas’ image are too strong to be a party that leads the PN that could lead to a major loss of Chinese voters in his own constituency,” he said.

Recently, a video of Sik Pas Youth chief went viral for saying voters will ‘go to hell’ if they choose BN or PH in the GE15.

The offensive remarks ignited anger from many, which led to a public apology from the man.
