BELURAN - Beluran parliament Perikatan Nasional (PN) candidate, Datuk Seri Dr Ronald Kiandee urges all parties to stop the intimidation campaign against voters in order to gain their support in the 15th General Election (GE15).

Ronald said that the threats were also directed at Village Chiefs, the Village Development and Security Committee (JPKK) and government officials who are clearly supporting opposing candidates other than BN and Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS).

"Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin (Sabah BN Chairman) has no right to force Beluran voters with threats to support or vote for his preferred candidate in this GE15.

"Bung Moktar’s act also undermines the parliamentary democratic system by restricting the right of voters to choose their representatives voluntarily without any coercion or threats," he said at a program with voters in Kampung Pinagkau Paitan on Sunday.

He said this based on Bung Moktar's statement cited in a newspaper report on Saturday which stated that any leader in GRS and BN who goes against the flow by supporting candidates from other parties should be removed.

Ronald, who is also the Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) vice president, said that the Sabah deputy chief minister should practice a healthy campaign based on the law.

"He did not willingly violate election laws such as threats, coercion and so on.

"I am confident that the people of Beluran will rise up to reject and oppose the desperate dirty tactics and campaign being carried out by Bung Moktar simply to defend their candidate in the Beluran Parliament," he stressed.

Ronald, who is also the Agriculture and Food Industry Minister, defends the Beluran parliamentary seat in this GE15 by contesting on the PN ticket.

The Beluran parliamentary seat saw a five-cornered contest with other candidates namely Rowiena Rasid from Parti Warisan (Warisan), Hausing Samsudin @ Sudin (Pejuang) and Felix Joseph Saang from Pertubuhan Kinabalu Progresif Bersatu (UPKO) representing Pakatan Harapan (PH).
