PH to introduce reforms to DBKL if they win GE15

PETALING JAYA- Pakatan Harapan (PH) will implement reforms to the Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) if they win the 15th General Election (GE15).
Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) chief organising secretary Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad, stated that DBKL's annual budget of approximately RM3 billion exceeds that of the wealthiest states, such as Selangor, which is at RM2.34 billion.
He said that the council's lack of legal oversight resulted in Kuala Lumpur's overcrowded development and poor infrastructure quality, among other problems.
"Indeed, the federal government now seems to be more focused on protecting vested interests rather than the lives and livelihood of the rakyat," he said in a press conference at the PKR Headquarters here on Wednesday.
Also present at the meeting were PKR deputy president Rafizi Ramli and the party's communications director Lee Chean Chung.
Nik Nazmi added that one of the coalition's goals was to ensure that people participate at the local government level through a democratic process. He explained that the move can have a real impact on their lives.
"This effort will ensure that all Malaysians can choose representatives who are more reliable, inclusive and represent the people," he said
