PETALING JAYA- PKR deputy president Rafizi Ramli claimed that another project worth RM285 million was awarded to a company by the Environment and Water Ministry (Kasa) after Parliament was dissolved.

Rafizi said the project, which was also approved by the finance ministry, involved upgrading a sewage plant southern part of Klang.

Rafizi questioned why did the company continued to receive the ministry's contracts despite having a bad track record.

"Why are ministry's big projects awarded for the most part through direct negotiations or limited tender to only one company, namely that one company?

"As far as I can tell, projects amounting to almost RM5 billion have been awarded to only one company.

"What is the importance and special relationship between the Minister Datuk Seri Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man and the Finance Minister Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Aziz with the company, that this troubled company is treated so well?" he said in a press conference at PKR headquarters today.

Previously, Rafizi disclosed that the ministry had granted RM2 billion Sungai Langat 2 flood control project through direct negotiations.

Rafizi, the Pandan candidate further said the ministry has also granted the same company an RM578.6 million limited (or selective) tender under the Jana Wibawa programme for the construction of the Krubong - Durian Tunggal flood mitigation pond.
