Number of flood victims in Selangor continues to rise

SHAH ALAM - The number of flood victims in Selangor continues to rise to 1,166 victims involving 282 families as of 2.30pm on Thursday.

Selangor State Disaster Management Unit Smart Selangor Operation Centre (SSOC) in its statement said seven districts in the state were affected by the incident.

According to the statement, Petaling district logged the highest number of victims when it recorded 606 victims from 136 families.

"This was followed by Klang with 301 victims from 76 families while Kuala Selangor district recorded 116 victims from 37 families and Sepang district recorded 22 victims from 15 families.

"Consecutively, Hulu Langat district housed 52 victims from 12 families and five victims from two families in Sabak Bernam district and Kuala Langat district involving three victims from one family," the statement read.

As of now, 18 temporary relief centres (PPS) were opened in the involving seven areas with four of them situated in the Sepang area.

Three more PPS were opened in the districts of Petaling, Klang and Hulu Langat while the other two were in Kuala Selangor and Sabak Bernam.

"One PPS was opened in Kuala Langat district while the other two districts in the state namely Gombak and Hulu Selangor did not record any casualties and no PPS was opened," the statement read.
