BN-PH for Perak ‘recipe for disaster’, says Peja

SHAH ALAM - A unity government formed by an alliance between Pakatan Harapan and Barisan Nasional was not a good decision by the latter, former Perak Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu said today.

Ahmad Faizal, who is also Perikatan Nasional Perak chairman, described the decision as a recipe for disaster, adding that the decision will only confirm speculation that Umno leaders are putting up new plans for alignment with PH just to remain in power.

He also questioned the party’s previous reproach towards PH chairman Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim as well as their determination to become the opposition if no party is willing to accept their principles.

“We wonder about the decision of the Umno General Assembly where the consensus was ‘No Anwar, No DAP’. The Perak PN remains adamant that it will become the opposition if it cannot form a state government with any party that is willing to accept the principles of the PN's struggle, with our tagline 'Caring, Clean and Stable',” he said in a statement, today.

He said Perak PN will not cooperate with PH in which there is DAP, a party that is rejected by the majority of Malays or with those who are tainted with corruption.

Earlier, Perak DAP announced that Perak BN and PH have agreed to establish a unity government in the state. It was reported that both coalitions have secured 33 state assembly seats following the 15th General Election (GE15) which allows them to form the government with a majority of seven seats.

"For the sake of the people and the country, Perak BN and PH have agreed to form the state government and detailed information will be announced in the near future," the statement read.
