King calls on rakyat to be rational on decision to be made on govt formation

KUALA LUMPUR - Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah calls on the people to be rational over the decision that will be made on the formation of the new government.

He said this while greeting media personnel who have waited outside Istana Negara, to monitor the development on the submission of agreed combination of political parties to form the next government as well as the name of the prime minister candidate.

He reminded the people to have patience and accept the decision that has been made by the political parties.

"We must have patience in accepting the decision that has been made by the rakyat, the people's representatives and Agong.

"Please be rational, we have to move on, we have to move forward for our beloved country," he said.

His Majestry said he hoped that a government would be formed by today.

He said as of now, he could not confirm what time the decision would be made.

"Hopefully everything will be (settle) today, but I can't reveal anything yet as I have not seen anything so far," he said.

Leaders of political parties and coalitions have been asked to inform Istana Negara of the agreed combination of political parties to form the next government and submit the name of the prime minister candidate, by 2pm today.

Dewan Rakyat speaker Tan Sri Azhar Azizan Harun has arrived at the palace at about 1.25pm.

As of 2.40pm, there was no sight of political leaders arriving at the palace.
