KUANTAN - The eight Pakatan Harapan (PH) assemblymen in Pahang have declared their support towards state Barisan Nasional (BN) chairman Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail to be the next Pahang Menteri Besar.

The backing -- which was done in the form of a signed statutory declarations (SD) -- on Wan Rosdy was annnounced by recently-voted Teruntum assemblyman Sim Chon Sing of the DAP.

Accordin to Sim, the signing of the SDs were done at a lawyer's office in Temerloh, here, today.

He added that the assemblymen who were present during the sigining were Chan Chun Kang (Semambu), Tengku Zulpuri Shah Raja (Tras), Woo Chee Wan (Mentakab), and Thomas Su Keong Siong (Ketari).

The remaining three who, Sim added, were expected to the same, today, will be Ho Chi Yang (Tanah Rata), Leong Yu Man (Triang) and Lee Chin Ben (Bilut).

"We were informed that discussions with BN Pahang over the formation of the state government is still ongoing," said Sim when contacted.

While PH has declared its support, Pahang Pas chief Rosli Abdu Jabar informed BERNAMA that up until now, no decisions have been made vis-a-vis the formation of a unity government between Pahang Perikatan Nasional and Pahang BN.

This was confirmed by Pas deputy president Datuk Seri Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man who is spearheading the unity government discussion with Pahang BN, in a brief statement issued today.

As it is, Wan Rosy has yet to issue any statement over matters concerning the formation of the state government.

Sehingga kini, Wan Rosdy masih tidak mengeluarkan sebarang kenyataan berhubung perbincangan pembentukan negeri.

Pahang is in a deadlock following the November 19 state polls that were done in tandem with the 15th General Election (GE15) whereby no parties have secured enough simple majority to form government.

The state has 42 state seats. BN won 16 seats, whereas PN won 17 seats followed by PH securing eight seats.

The Tioman state seat will be put to contest on December 7. Its electoral bout was postponed following the death of PN candidate Md Yunus Ramli,61, at 3.30am on polling day, due to heart complications.- BERNAMA
