SHAH ALAM - Pas secretary-general Datuk Seri Takyuddin Hassan today reiterates that the party will remain an opposition and will not join the Pakatan Harapan (PH) and DAP-led government.

In a statement, Takiyuddin said in order to honour the faith and mandate of the majority, particularly those who voted for Pas and Perikatan Nasional (PN) in the 15th General Election (GE15), the party would not join the unity government.

“Thus, Pas will continue to act as a constructive opposition by advising all parties to ensure that the governance of the country runs smoothly and can be upheld based on the principles of caring, clean and stable,” the statement said.

Recently, Takiyuddin announced that Pas would soon meet with other PN component parties to determine whether or not to accept the invitation of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim to join the unity government.

The Pas secretary-general told the people their voices would be heard during the negotiations, especially those of GE15 voters who supported PAS and PN.

To date, Pakatan Harapan, Barisan Nasional, and Gabungan Parti Sarawak were the three parties that make up the unity government.
