Redelineation of Sabah Parliamentary constituencies should be implemented

He said the move was to take into account the current needs due to the situation of some large parliamentary constituencies which make it difficult to monitor and develop the state.
"I would like to urge for the improvement of the Malaysia Agreement by reviewing the redelineation of Parliamentary constituencies in Sabah.
"The review involving the addition of seats is in line with the current needs as some Parliamentary constituencies are too large and it is difficult to carry out the monitoring and development process and to effectively serve the people," he said during the 2023 Sabah Budget debate at the state assembly session here on Monday.
In this regard, he said, it is appropriate for the redelineation process to be implemented as soon as possible, especially for Sabah and Sarawak.
In his speech, he also suggested that more female candidates should be featured at the next state election and Cabinet posts should be given to more women.
"Women are capable to protect and care for many under them, as such, it is possible for efforts to feature more female candidates in the upcoming general and state elections to be realised more quickly.
"I suggest that in the next election female candidates should be highlighted because we have 73 state seats and at least 10 to 20 candidates are made up of women.
" As for Cabinet positions, two women need to be appointed as full ministers, while six can be appointed as assistant ministers, this proposal should be seriously considered as the percentage of women have increased and theyare major contributors to the economic progress and social development of the people.
"To date, the involvement of women in the decision-making group is still small, and out of the 127 women who competed in GE15, only 32 candidates won," he said.
