Time to move forward, stop political, racial provocation, say experts

Experts say the focus should be on the cost of living, inflation, job opportunities, national economic growth and measures to attract foreign investors.

With the formation of the unity government under the leadership of the Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, all parties whether the government or the opposition should start working to restore the country's economy.
National Professors Council Prof Datuk Dr Jeniri Amir said such acts does not bring any benefit and may create a negative impact on the country's political, social and economic stability.
"We should focus on how to ensure that the current government is stable and supported by the people when political leaders from various blocs have agreed to cooperate," he told Sinar Harian.
He said the people should give support and suggestions to the government to build the nation.
"The focus should be on the cost of living, inflation, job opportunities, national economic growth and measures to attract foreign investors.
"The Cabinet that will be formed by the prime minister should be supported.
"National reconciliation should be our main agenda in accordance with the formation of the unity government which has been approved by the Yang di-Pertuan Agong," he said.
Prof Dr Zaharul Abdullah of Universiti Malaysia Terengganu also said that comments made on social media must be constructive and not in conflict with existing laws.
Zaharul said the people need to leave such mindset behind and move forward together with the government to build a better country.
"Of course these negative comments have an impact on race relations," he said, urging the government to control such narrative which are mostly held to gain Malay support.
He added the control over such narrative and encourage reconciliation would further increase political stability to attract domestic and international investors.
