Fadhli mocks Isham on the issue to call for an establishment of an RCI

SHAH ALAM - Perikatan Nasional (PN) Youth Chief Ahmad Fadhli Shaari has ridiculed Umno Information Chief Isham Jalil's suggestion for the establishment of a Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI).

Isham had suggested for an RCI to look into the alleged spending of RM600 billion during Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin's administration.

The Pasir Mas MP cynically said that the establishment of the RCI could not be delayed and that it was the best idea put forward by Pakatan Harapan (PH) and Barisan Nasional (BN) so far.

"I strongly agree, establish it (RCI) immediately, don't delay it any longer, set aside the people's economic agenda. We must investigate up to the grassroots first. This is the best idea the PH-BN government has so far," he said in a Facebook post on Sunday.

In the post, Fadhli described the PH-BN unity government as not wanting to talk about corruption because it can 'hit' their own friends.

"If you want to talk about corruption, maybe one of your own gang will be hit. When it comes to defending religion and race, there will be people who are unsatisfied.

"Don't forget to call it (RCI investigation) on Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz who was the finance minister at the time," he said.

It was reported recently that Isham had called for the immediate establishment of the RCI to look into the distribution of funds during the Movement Control Order (MCO) and the proclamation of emergency throughout Muhyiddin's time as Prime Minister.

The controversy over the use of emergency funds of over RM600 billion when the country was faced with the Covid-19 pandemic had been raised once by the Alor Gajah MP who was also the Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah) chairman.

The issue was also raised by former Melaka Chief Minister Adly Zahari on Nov 15.

Muhyiddin was reported as stating that the money was spent to aid the people and that he was not worried or afraid if an investigation was conducted because the expenditure made followed the established procurement policy.
