Rafizi 'breaks silence' on PN's criticism on unity government

The newly-minted Economic Minister said the 15th General Election (GE15) results was rather unique as it has paved away for those who had 'wrestled' in the political realm to now, sitting at the same table to discuss matters affecting the people's well-being.
"The election results were unique as there were no coalitions that could form a majority government. Both Perikatan Nasional (PN) or PH were unable to form a government without BN's participation.
"Only the Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah broke the deadlock when he ordered the coalitions to form a unity government.
"However, PN were strong in their decision to reject cooperation with PH from the beginning.
They had clearly stated in their disagreement in the agreement draft to form a unity government," he said in a video posted in his TikTok account on Sunday.
PN also acted dishonestly when they claimed that they had the majority, as that was another replay of the Sheraton Move, Rafizi stressed.
He added that the PN failure to 'steal away' MPs , was their reason to be upset about the current unity government.
"They are upset that they couldn't steal any MPs to their side to form a government. As a result, the name-calling and unjustified criticism of the current government would continue for a few more weeks.
"The people should go back and ask Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin and Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang if rejecting the King's order to form a unity government was against what was championed by PN to care for the well-being of the Malays and the Malay institutions.
"Why would you want to form a government by stealing MPs from another party when the people have clearly rejected such political betrayal as seen in the Sheraton Move? What is the use of voting and passing the Anti Party Hopping Act if the laws were made to be casted aside because of a desire to become the government," he asked.
Rafizi explained that his position as a consultant coordinating the unity government had previously prevented him from issuing any statements due to negotiation confidentiality.
"If we are negotiators, negotiation confidentiality is important in order not to complicate the situation."
"For now, my advice to all is to prioritise the people. This means giving political stability so that the government lasts for five years and has a chance to implement effective policies, helping people without disruptions.
"The goal of the government voted in by the people was to fix the economy so that the daily lives of the people would be improved," he said.
