Stop the disputes, focus on country's development

SHAH ALAM - Political leaders are urged to stop conflicts and enemies but focus on developing the country instead.

Security and political analyst Dr Noor Nirwandy Mat Noordin said their actions were not beneficial and were unsettling the people.

He said a political truce needed to be implemented to set aside the interests of the party as it was for the good and well-being of the country and its people.

"I think what happened was not a transition or change in the country. A transition needs to be supported with positive things and could develop a country.

"Of course, we see on social media regarding what is happening, issues relating to political interest and funds, but for me the matter needed to be resolved through proper channels.

"It is time to make a perfect political truce, this meant the element of party interests needed to be set aside in order to develop the country.

“We have seen how long the people had been entangled in the political issues since the 14th General Election (GE14) to GE15," he said on the Sinar Live programme titled 'Stop Chatting, Monitor Ministers Working' at Sinar Karangkraf on Tuesday conducted by Fahiz Ariff.

Nirwandy said it was time for the people to not be burdened with constant disputes or political hostility.

"If there are facts regarding a matter that was said to be wrong then it is the responsibility of the party involved (to find a solution) however, in the terms of how to process and analyse the people's thoughts, we need a truce that is much more stable and focused on the elements of the country's interest.

"The policy developed by the Yang di-Pertuan Agong sparked an inspiration or idea that I think is quite perfect in creating a unity government which was inhabited and modelled to bring the country different political dimensions and changes.

"Although there would be differences among political leaders, (but) when Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim was appointed (to become prime minister) he had the right to lead the country and form the leadership however, it had to be based on what His Majesty Yang di-Pertuan Agong wanted, this was to bring Malaysia together with the federal elements, rukun negara and also the national security policy to form a perfect country," he said.

On Monday, Perikatan Nasional (PN) chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin at a press conference said he wanted Anwar to properly investigate issues related to the funds and gain the proper data before releasing any statements.

Anwar countered in a statement on Tuesday when he reminded Muhyiddin not to challenge the government on the issue of RM600 billion of funds that were allegedly embezzled by the government under the PN chairman's previous administration.

The prime minister stated that based on the information he obtained, it was evident that there were some processes and procedures that were not followed in the expenditure of the funds that were made during the Movement Control Order (MCO) and the previous emergencies.

Focus on stabilising the economy, not corruption issue

Meanwhile, Sungai Petani MP Taufiq Johari stated the main focus in forming the unity government was for the work to stabilise politics and restore the economy.

He said the issue of appointing individuals related to corruption no longer needed to be raised because the prime minister had stated he would not tolerate court cases or corruption.

"So, the court issue and such should just be done as per usual but what was more important was the actions shown and we must see that the unity government had a clear direction concept to restore the economy.

"The importance of this unity government following the verse of the Quran stating, 'don't split and fall apart, hold on to Allah's guide, this was the concept that we try to bring'," he said at the programme.

Taufiq said the unity government was already formed, so the main matter that needed to be implemented was to bring the country towards the correct direction other than stabilising the politics and restoring the economy.

"One more (important matter) was the chief who can lead and be the captain, I don't think there would be any issues.

"If Anwar shows a solid example of leadership, this would give the impression that it is a good government," he said.
