3 main factors contributed to PN's win in Padang Serai, says experts

These factors were PN's branding itself which is comprised of Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) and Parti Islam Se-Malaysia (PAS), Kedah Menteri Besar 's leadership and the candidate representing the party, said Research firm O2 Research Malaysia (O2).
Its chief researcher Anis Anwar Suhaimi said the results of Padang Serai election still reflected the change that the people yearned at the 15th General Election (GE15).
"Apart from national issues, Kedah led by Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor has also contributed to the “green tsunami” in the state where 14 of 15 parliaments in Kedah were swept clean by PN," he said to Sinar recently.
Further, Anwar also explained that PN's branding factor has also played a role in showing a new and more nationalistic image of the party, aside from chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin's leadership when he achieved zero Covid-19 cases in July,2020 as well as the numerous stimulus packages given to the people at the time.
PN's candidate for the Padang Serai election who was also the Kedah Exco member, Datuk Azman Nasrudin is also a winning factor where his familiar face had garnered the supported from the people.
Anis Anwar also opined that Pakatan Harapan's defeat was because the people did not know the party's candidate as they have known the former MP, late M Karupaiya.
Meanwhile, political analyst Wan Embril Nizam Wan Embong described the Tioman state assembly election results as a proof of the cooperation between PH-BN was received well by the people there despite poor voters turnout compared to the previous election.
Pahang Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail's leadership and state governance in resolving numerous issues concerning the people's interest in Tioman, was also a winning factor.
"This was an early signal that the new government may pull the support of Malay voters in the future," he said.
