GRS Secretary General Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun said he is confident that the four MPs running under the GRS ticket will not be affected by the anti-hopping laws.
"GRS and our four MPs are fully aware of the anti-hopping laws that came into effect on Oct 5.
"They will inform the Dewan Rakyat Speaker accordingly," he said in a statement.
Before that, Bersatu chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin Yassin in his statement on Sunday said the position of the four Bersatu MPs who left the party will be determined based on the anti-hopping laws under Article 49A of the Federal Constitution.
The four MPs are Khairul Firdaus Akbar Khan (Batu Sapi), Datuk Matbali Musah (Sipitang), Datuk Armizan Mohd Ali (Papar) and Datuk Jonathan Yasin (Ranau).
However, Constitutional lawyer Datuk Tengku Fuad Tengku Ahmad in his statement had said their position does not violate Article 49A of the Federal Constitution and will not cause them to lose their respective parliamentary seats as they are still with GRS.
Last Saturday, GRS Chairman Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor announced that Bersatu Sabah leadership left the party but remained in the coalition.
