Gov ends all political appointments in GLC, GLIC, MOF Inc with immediate effect

SHAH ALAM - The Cabinet today decided that all politically-appointed chairman and board of directors in federal statutory bodies, Finance Ministry (Incorporated) firms, government-linked companies (GLC), and government-linked investment companies (GLIC) to be terminated immediately.

Confirmed by a source to Sinar earlier, after a letter on the termination which was signed by Chief Secretary, Tan Sri Mohd Zuki Ali went viral on social media. The letter was addressed to ministries' secretaries-general.

Mohd Zuki also requested the cooperation of ministries' secretaries-general to implement the order.

This is not the first time when the federal government decided to take similiar action. Previously when Pakatan Harapan (PH) formed the government in 2008, it terminated the contract of officers who were politically appointed.

Then Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad said the move was to reduce government's spending after former Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak's administration.
