SHAH ALAM - Federal Territories Parti Pejuang Tanah Air (Pejuang) chief Datuk Seri Khairuddin Abu Hassan announces his resignation effective immediately.

Khairuddin said his struggle was only based on the support of the coalition's former chairman, Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.

He said his service in Pejuang was no longer relevant when Mahathir's resignation was accepted by the party's political bureau and notified to the Central Executive Council (MEP) meeting on Dec 15.

"I am officially resigning as Federal Territories Pejuang chief and central executive member effective immediately without the influence of any parties.

"My struggle then now and forever is based on the axis of support for Mahathir who always remained principled and never cheated in any struggle to uphold the truth for the sake of the nation, country or religion.

"I only provide the best and most reliable service for Mahathir," he said in a statement on Tuesday.

Sinar on Friday reported that Mahathir confirmed his resignation as Pejuang chairman.

However, the former prime minister would remain as the Gerakan Tanah Air (GTA) chairman.
